About

One-story stucco house behind a hedge, with palm trees along the street

Named for the windward side.

Barlovento Windows & Shutters replaces windows and doors in Miami-Dade homes and condos and fits the shutters that close over them. We measure every opening ourselves, explain the options in plain terms and handle the permit and inspections, so the only decision left to you is what each opening should do.

Barlovento is the windward side, the side that meets the wind first. It’s the side we build for.

  • Every opening measured on site
  • Permit and inspections handled
  • Repairs on windows and shutters we didn’t install

Questions

Before we measure.

Impact windows or shutters: which do I need?

Both protect the opening. Impact windows stay in place all year; shutters are closed when a storm is coming. We look at each opening with you and quote both.

Does window replacement need a permit in Miami-Dade?

Yes. Window, door and shutter jobs need a permit and an inspection, and the products must be approved for use in Miami-Dade. We pull the permit and book the inspections.

Can you work in my condo?

Yes. Condos usually need the association’s approval first; we give you the product details the board asks for.

How do I close roll-down shutters if the power is out?

Motorized shutters can be fitted with a manual override; we show you how to use it on installation day.

Do you repair windows you didn’t install?

Yes: windows, sliding doors and shutters, whoever put them in.
